Dice Fitness Freeze
How to Play
1Teacher spreads picture flashcards numbered 1-6 on the floor in a line. Children stand at the starting line facing the cards. Teacher holds up the foam die and says: 'Roll the die -- jumps to the number -- say the word!'
2Teacher rolls the foam die. It lands on 2. Teacher shows the class: 'Look -- 2!' Children count the dots together: 'One, two, three... 2!'
3Child jumps to, picks up card number 2, and says the word aloud: 'CAT! /k/! C for cat!' Teacher confirms: 'Yes -- cat! /k/!'
4Class repeats the word together after the child: 'CAT! /k/!' Teacher says: 'Everyone -- say it loud and clear!' Children chant together.
5Teacher rolls again for the next child. Die lands on a new number. Children call out the number together and the next child jumps to, reads the word, and the class repeats. Teacher keeps rolling -- children keep moving and saying words.
Tip: Roll the die toward open floor space, not at children. Count the dots out loud together before every child moves -- this connects the number to the action.
